You have #bodygoals for the summer, but then your friends invite you to a barbecue and all you think is “I want to spend time with my friends, but also carry on eating low carb and keto… Help!”

We say to you: you can safely forget about nibbling on a lettuce leaf. With our tasty recipes you can eat your fill at the BBQ, reach your goals, and a food coma is not in sight afterwards either. Rather the question from your friends: “Which of these recipes shall we try out next time?”

Table of contents

    1. Keto barbecue: spare ribs with whiskey marinade

A barbecue party without spare ribs, where does that ever happen? Not with us, at any rate. So here is the perfect recipe for delicious keto BBQ ribs: super juicy meat with a smoky sweet whiskey marinade, and since we make it ourselves it is guaranteed to be foodpunk style sugar free.

With it there are spicy pan-fried pimentos and shallots. If you like, you can add a tasty baked potato with DIY sour cream to the keto version of the dish. Works in the kitchen or on the barbecue. Life as a Foodpunk can be so simple, and sooo tasty.

    2. Keto barbecue: potato salad

A barbecue party is coming up and you still need a quick low carb side dish for the buffet? We have something for that. Our low carb “potato salad” is not only made in 3 steps, it also has only 10.5 g of carbohydrates per portion compared with the classic potato salad.

What makes that possible is the mixture of parsley root (6 g carbs per 100 g) and Jerusalem artichoke (4 g carbs per 100 g). If you prefer the taste of one of the two, you can also make the “potato salad” with that one alone. The keto mayo that we use in the recipe is, by the way, also suitable for Paleo, gluten free and, thanks to the use of MCT oil, gives a foodpunk style energy kick.

    3. Keto barbecue: turkey and spinach burger from the grill

With a burger like this the barbecue party can really get going. Within 8 easy steps a real masterpiece is created here: juicy turkey mince patties that are jazzed up with garlic, onions, spinach and balsamic vinegar before they land on the grill to be cooked.

The tasty patties are combined with aubergine buns, grilled peppers and a quick pesto, simply the perfect food for a barbecue evening with friends.

    4. Low carb barbecue: tabbouleh with quinoa

This gluten free recipe fits perfectly onto a richly laid table for a low carb & keto barbecue evening. In the Moroccan dish tabbouleh, bulgur or couscous is normally used. Our creative chef Francesco has conjured up a foodpunk style version with quinoa for us.

The combination of parsley, mint, tomatoes and lemon juice is ideal in hot temperatures, whether they come from the grill or from the sun.

    5. Keto barbecue: lukewarm mushroom salad with gorgonzola

A dream with steak or barbecue sausages not only lukewarm but also cold: carrots, mushrooms, red onions, gorgonzola and fresh chives make this salad #foodilicious.

    6. Keto barbecue: refreshing low carb lemonade

A sweet lemonade in summer, a nice apple spritzer, a cosy shandy… all of that may sound wonderfully refreshing, but it immediately puts an end to any fat burning. Because when sugar is taken in dissolved in a liquid, it has its nastiest effect. Bad for a great figure and bad for your health.

All the same, a barbecue evening may bring something other than just still water. With birch sugar (xylitol) or erythritol the lemonade turns out low in carbohydrates. Erythritol has no influence at all on blood sugar levels, xylitol only a small one.

The best source of fluid remains water, of course, but for special moments it may well be a sparkling glass of this wonderful lemonade.

    7. Keto barbecue: aubergine halloumi burger

This low carb and keto recipe is super simple, does not take long and still tastes as if you had travelled to the south. And on top of that with a seasonal power product: the aubergine. The low-carbohydrate vegetable is ideally suited as a burger bun and also has far more usable vitamins for your body than a conventional burger bread.

The filling of the burger is the so-called halloumi, a Cypriot cheese perfected for grilling that simply tastes really good and develops a very interesting texture once it has been grilled. Traditionally it is made from the milk of cows, sheep and goats and therefore has an intense flavour.

If you want to make the side dish ketogenic as well, simply replace the sweet potato fries with kohlrabi sticks cooked in the oven for 40 minutes at 180 degrees.

    8. Keto barbecue: tear-and-share bread with bacon and cheese

An absolute eye-catcher at your next barbecue evening or buffet, nobody here really believes that there is no grain in this bread. The tear-and-share bread is also known as hedgehog bread. If you want to cook it on the barbecue, you should wrap it in aluminium foil beforehand and open the foil at the top in the last few minutes, so that the bread takes on a little colour and becomes crisp.

Tip: the vegetarian variant is tasty too: low carb tear-and-share bread with pesto and cheese.

    9. Keto barbecue: fine prawns in a crispy bacon coat

You could also describe this recipe as the little brother of “surf and turf”, something from the sea, something from the land. Instead of steak with prawns we serve you fine prawns in a crispy coat of bacon, yummy.

When preparing them on the barbecue it is best to use a grilling tray, so that the prawns do not fall into the embers. Green asparagus briefly grilled over low heat or a large fresh salad go well with it, for example.

    10. Keto barbecue: summery low carb watermelon and feta salad

Watermelon in a salad does not work? It does. With our summery low carb recipe we prove to you how harmonious the combination with feta, mushrooms and mint is. In summer the foodpunk style salad convinces all round and leaves quite a few salad classics dully in the shade.

Tip: since the skin of a watermelon unfortunately gives nothing away about its inside, it is worth doing the “knock test” before you buy. If the whole fruit gives a dull sound, it is ripe; if the sound is rather hollow, the fruit is probably unripe. But since melons no longer ripen once they have been harvested, you had better pack up the dull-sounding ones.

    11. Keto barbecue: juicy steak with strawberry salsa

Are you looking for a sauce for your barbecued steak that is not run of the mill? We have something for that, because this combination not only brings summer feelings onto the plate, it also convinces all round with its fruity note. On top of that the strawberry salsa for your juicy steak is made in no time. Go and try it out.

Tip: are you a dip lover at the barbecue and looking for even more inspo? Then we recommend our keto guacamole or the delicious Mexican pico de gallo salsa… both ideal with steak, grilled vegetables & co.

    12. Low carb barbecue: baked feta with raspberry and mustard dressing

The combination of wonderfully prepared feta with vegetables, rosemary and a fruity dressing rocks the taste buds. But that is not all, because the vegetarian dish is also made super quickly. Throw it onto the barbecue in aluminium foil, wait and enjoy it while it is still warm, THEN summer can come.

    13. Keto barbecue: caprese with grilled aubergine

What must not be missing for the ultimate barbecue feeling? Right, a tasty caprese. And since at Foodpunk we like to add an extra explosion of flavour on top, here we have a recipe for caprese with grilled aubergine. The aubergine complements tomato, mozzarella and basil perfectly and makes the hearts of all fans of Italian cuisine beat faster with the very first bite.

Ideal as a meal prep recipe too, or when you want to bring something along to a barbecue. Want to bet that your friends have never eaten caprese like THIS before?

    14. Keto barbecue: three kinds of herb butter for every occasion

Herb butter and barbecuing simply belong together. So here we present 3 variations with which you can refine your mild summer evenings in culinary terms: curry and ginger, tomato and rosemary, chilli and lime. Sounds pretty good, doesn’t it?

The combinations of spices bring new joy onto the plate and skilfully take on the classic herb butter from the chilled shelf. By the way, you can serve the butter variations not only with a good piece of meat, they also convince all round with grilled vegetables.

And as a little insider tip for everyone who cannot do without bread at a barbecue: with our Bread Fit you put together what belongs together: butter and bread. And all of it with a summery refreshing note and suitable for every low carb barbecue lover. What is there to stop you trying it out now?

    15. Keto barbecue: ketogenic strawberry tiramisu with Vanilla Heaven sponge

A dessert must not be missing at a barbecue either: our sugar free, ketogenic strawberry tiramisu manages to get everyone with a sweet tooth sitting blissfully at the table and spooning away. Now and then you hear a contented smacking of lips. And sometimes someone even tries to pinch a spoonful from the neighbour’s glass.

Because when a delicate hint of vanilla from the Vanilla Heaven waffles nestles quite shyly against the sugar-sweet strawberries and the rich tiramisu cream, every single spoonful is pure pleasure.

The great thing: you can prepare our ketogenic strawberry tiramisu the day before. Then you have no time pressure at all and can fully enjoy the barbecue evening.
