Coffee is allowed on a keto diet and in the Foodpunk challenge, because a little coffee even supports fat burning. But I would not drink more than three cups a day, and I would be careful to have no coffee within eight hours of going to bed. Even though the alerting effect does not last that long, it can disturb your restorative sleep, and poor sleep in turn increases hunger.

More Information2. Smoothies on a keto diet
Are smoothies allowed on a ketogenic diet? There is an odd trend for snacks, namely smoothies from the chilled shelf. Many people think they are a healthy answer to a small hunger, but in fact they are nothing but pure sugar that shoots into the blood incredibly fast. There is no barrier, digestion happens very quickly, the sugar reaches the blood fast and insulin rises. That interrupts fat burning, causes cravings and is therefore not suitable on a keto diet at all.

More Information3. Protein bread on a keto diet
Is protein bread allowed on a ketogenic diet? Many supermarkets now sell ready baked so called protein bread. Be careful: just because it says protein bread does not mean it contains fewer carbohydrates and a lot of protein. Often some of the carbohydrates have simply been swapped for protein, and the ingredient list is sometimes anything but pretty. Check that there is no gluten in it, no soy and no strange flavourings or fillers. There are a few good low carb breads. We happen to have invented one of them. I can recommend those. Have a look at our website.

More Information4. Is sugar free chewing gum a good idea?
How good is sugar free chewing gum? Many of you ask: “Am I allowed to chew sugar free gum during the Foodpunk challenge? I like using it when I am hungry between meals.” First of all: you may have been hungry between meals so far, but with the Foodpunk challenge that stops after the short adjustment phase. The habit is often still there, though. You want to chew something between meals. Please skip it, because in the long run chewing gum actually makes you hungrier. It drives cravings up, because your brain keeps thinking food is on its way. Your stomach acid production is stimulated. You do not want that. Give your stomach a real break between meals.
